Texting Lions

The king of the jungle doesn't need thumbs to send text messages.

The lions wear GPS collars that send hourly and detailed text messages to researchers who are studying the big cats movements in the savannah, reports CNN.

An animal conservation group, Living with Lions, is tracking the felines because the population of the lions has dropped drastically in Africa. Local Massai herders are poisoning the lions as they are worried about their livestock. The text messages from the lions alert the researchers when the lions are too close to livestock herds.

  3. I do hope this works and helps the lions and stop the people from poisoning them. It's very sad that such drastic measures have to be taken but it's a desperate situation. Thank goodness for technology doing some good! Take care
